New Podcast: Harnessing Mechanobiology with Controlled Micromotion
In collaboration with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), OrthoXel is pleased to sponsor a new episode of The OTA Podcast, featuring orthopaedic trauma surgeons Roman Natoli, MD and Michael Weaver, MD.
The discussion explores persistent challenges in tibial and femoral fracture healing and how controlled micromotion may help create a more favorable mechanical environment for bone healing. The surgeons discuss OrthoXel’s micromotion technology, which provides 1 mm of controlled axial motion while maintaining rotational stability, and how this approach could help harness the body’s mechanobiology.
Dr. Natoli also shares his early clinical experience using the technology in challenging femur and tibia cases, while the conversation looks ahead to further clinical research, including a planned randomized controlled trial in femoral shaft fractures.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
- Why challenges remain in tibial and femoral fracture healing
- How mechanobiology and controlled micromotion may influence bone healing
- Early clinical experience with OrthoXel micromotion nails
- How the technology fits into familiar intramedullary nailing workflows
- What future clinical research could tell us about micromotion and fracture fixation
Meet OrthoXel at OTA 2026
OrthoXel will be exhibiting at the OTA 2026 Annual Meeting, September 23–26 in Nashville, Tennessee. Visit us at Booth 334 at the Nashville Music City Center to learn more about our Apex Nailing Systems and controlled micromotion technology.
We’re also pleased to welcome several leading orthopaedic surgeons to Booth 334 during the meeting to speak about their experiences using our Apex systems.

We look forward to seeing you in Nashville!
